Enable SMTP Authentication

The same username and password used to retrieve your mail, from the mailserver on which your domain is setup, will apply to outgoing email authentication.

You’ll receive a ‘550 relay not permitted’ error message, through your email client, when authentication with our mail server failed. This is an indication that you are not authenticating with the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) server and the SMTP server is therefore rejecting your request to send (relay) mail through it.

How to fix this problem:

  1. Refer to our visual step-by-step troubleshooting guide for your specific mail client
  2. Follow the settings to access the Outgoing SMTP server
  3. Choose the option to require authentication using a password
  4. Use the same user name and password for both the incoming and outgoing servers.
