The FTP password has two functions:

  1. It allows access to konsoleH at Domain level
  2. Provides FTP access to manage your website and webmaster (default) mailbox.

New hosting accounts are created with a randomized, unrecorded FTP password – this password needs to be set as a first step in managing the hosting account.

For security reasons there is no record of FTP passwords, so once an FTP password has been set, you will need to keep your own record. Although forgotten FTP passwords can’t be recovered, they can be reset.

It is good practice to change your passwords regularly to prevent unauthorized access to your information.

Reset your FTP password via konsoleH

  1. Browse to konsoleH and log in at Admin or Domain level
  2. Select Manage Services in the left-hand menu
  3. Domain level: Select FTP Users, OR
  4. Admin level: Select Configuration > FTP Users
  5. Select Reset Password
  6. You can change your default password by
    • clicking Generate Password, or
    • creating a strong password yourself
  7. Click Copy to Clipboard and paste it in a secure location, or make your own note of the password as it will no longer be viewable once updated
  8. Click Update

When changing your FTP Password, it is important that you also update your FTP program.

Please note: We will only accept strong passwords. To ensure your password is strong, make sure you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Use both upper and lower case letters as well as numbers.

  • Ensure it is at least 11 characters long.
  • Do not use your username, email address or domain names associated with your account.
  • Do not use your personal information, such as name, phone number, ID number, special dates, address or names of anyone you know.
  • Use different passwords for your various hosting services.
  • Use a word or phrase you can remember easily, but would be very difficult for anyone else to guess.
